Meet The Youth Directors

Yael originally hails from Toronto Canada, a large bustling community and a Shul with over 2,500 family memberships. She studied Fashion Design at the International Academy of Design and Technology and during that time she was heavily involved as a youth advisor in NCSY involved various programs and Shabbatons. After graduating Yael moved to the Big Apple to continue her career in fashion, and has worked in the industry in various capacities, including running an accessory company, and working as an assistant Designer. She also worked as an assistant pre-school teacher for several years, which gave her a better understanding and appreciation for early child education. Yael currently works as an events program assistant at Manhattan Jewish Experience.

Josh grew up more locally in Highland Park, NJ. He studied Economics at Yeshiva University and currently works in Real Estate in various capacities, including property management and finance. Prior to real estate, he spent several years managing a boutique marketing and events firm where he developed advertising and social media campaigns. The events he managed ranged from smaller more intimate settings to grand scale events at the Waldorf Astoria. Josh spent several years volunteering as both a Yachad and NCSY advisor around the country and has recently completed a 6 year stint as a Board Member of Mount Sinai Jewish Center where they currently live in Washington Heights. During his tenure with Mount Sinai, Josh ran over a dozen events and often informally assisted with youth on Shabbat Mornings.

Mikey is a 4 ½ year old boy with an affection for trains and superheroes and will be attending Manhattan Day School in the Fall.

Both Yael and Josh (and Mikey) pride themselves in being community oriented and having an open home. Over the course of their 10 ½ year marriage, they along with their son Mikey have hosted over 2,000 people for Shabbos/Chag meals. They are excited to move to the neighborhood and make the Ohab Zedek Community their own.
