Stand Up Tall
Sunday, February 4, 2018 • 19 Shevat 5778
10:00 AM - 12:00 PMKeep Calm and Stand Up Tall
Have you gone to the doctor with aches, pains or an upset stomach only to be told that there was no medical bases for your complaints? Do your headaches always worsen before a job interview or a presentation at work? Does your stomach begin to ache right before a first date?
What if your back pain is a function of weak muscles in your inner hips rather than the back itself? Or your left shoulder injury is connected to your turned out right foot? To quote Ida Rolf (Rolfing) in terms of where you feel pain relative to its true cause, “Where you think it is, it ain’t”. Perhaps there are underlying issues as to why your back hurts when sitting, your neck is chronically tight, you have knee pain when walking, reflected in your posture?!
Our workshop will explore these common experiences as well as unique insights and models for natural posture and optimal daily functioning, including:
- What happens between the ‘perfect’ functioning of a toddler (graceful movement, perfect mechanics when squatting to pick up a toy, natural breathing) and the dysfunction that often occurs as we age.
- Understanding the downward cycle of pain, strain, and injury (based upon misalignment)
- What you can do to regain a more optimal posture, sit comfortably all day at work, breath deeper naturally, and walk with that spring in your step.
- The mental/emotional impact of the mind-body connection
- Various tips and tools to better manage anxiety and it's physical manifestations
- How mindfulness and other relaxation techniques can contribute to better overall health
Please feel free to bring your friends or colleagues!
