Round Challah Bake!

4 cups lukewarm water

1 tbsp sugar

5 packet of dried yeast

2cups sugar

1.5 tbsp salt

1.5 cups of canola oil

3 eggs

5 lbs of flour

  • Preheat oven to 375
  • Put lukewarm water in a bowl. Add 1 tbsp of sugar and packets yeast. Stir up gently and wait for bubbles to appear.
  • In separate large bowl mix dried ingredients. 
  • Make well in center of bowl
  • Add eggs ,oil ,and yeast mixture
  • Mix well with spoon, and then knead dough until desired consistency.
  • Form dough into a ball and slightly grease with oil (not spray)
  • Cover in warm space and allow to rise until it doubles in size. 1 hour and 45 mins
  • Separate a piece of dough and make bracha
  • Form desired shape and glaze with an egg. Let formed challah rise for another 45 min
  • Bake for 35 min
