The well lived life requires making serious commitments. For many of us, it's far more a journey than mere nomadic wandering--although that's ok too if you bring your commitments with you from place to place. They give meaning to our lives. Of course, there are risks and costs associated with living a significant life. We accept these risks and costs as part of what living a meaningful life demands of us. Most of us, however, do not live out our commitments alone, We have family and close friends. We are sometimes tempted to forget that they share these risks and costs. But we share the pains and pleasures of their lives as well. We are on their journey just as much as they are on ours. The well lived life is a life of relationships and this too comes with hells and benefits.
