Many have requested an upgrade from our current security arrangement. Unfortunately, the ideal - 2 trained armed guards - is prohibitively expensive at this point.
Community Security Services (CSS), is a well established and effective lay program that has been put into place in many communities throughout New York.
Volunteers commit to several hours of advanced training, and then conduct rotating patrol shifts. Already, several Officers and Trustees have signed up. I now ask you to join us.
Additionally, the office has successfully secured a new round of funding from the Dept. of Homeland Security. These funds are not for personnel, but will be used to upgrade and install new interior and exterior cameras, panic buttons, alarms, doors, and access control. Given the calendar, installation is likely to commence immediately following Sukkos.
A safe and secure shul is our top priority - but it literally can't happen without you!
Please contact me directly if you are able to join our CSS group. The larger the pool of volutneers, the minimum rotations will be expected of you, and we can likely get training on premises at OZ.
Wishing you a happy and healthy - and safe - new year!
