Hashkama Minyan - Rabbi Blanchard's Blurb
- A reminder about a widely accepted truth: Is seeking knowledge always a good thing? Many of us would say that this depends on why we seek it. Investigation, experimentation, theory construction and text interpretation always take place within the context of our interests, purposes and goals. In addition, in most situations, knowledge is power. But why we want power makes all the difference in evaluating our search for knowledge. And can we always be sure of our motivations in seeking knowledge and power? All in all, we can't stop trying to understand our world and act effectively in it, but we need to be very very circumspect about our motivations.
- Reflections on the story of Bilaam
